Practice Areas: commercial real estate | corporate law Mr. Sherman joined the firm in 1981. His real estate practice includes shopping center acquisitions, construction lending, leasing, purchasing and selling of properties, and cooperative and condominium offerings. Mr. Sherman's recent corporate matters include the $51 million acquisition of the assets of a national retail chain in bankruptcy, which included the negotiation of a $36 million credit agreement and related real estate and non-real estate collateralization. Examples of Mr. Sherman's significant transactions are:
workouts of mortgage/unsold share positions involving New York City cooperatives on behalf of the Resolution Trust Corporation. conversion of a large Greenwich Village apartment building to a "condop" containing residential units and commercial space. private placements for start-up companies. financing of triple A leases with securitized mortgages. credit agreements for a New York Stock Exchange textile company. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Sherman was a Special Deputy Attorney General in the New York State Department of Law. Mr. Sherman is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Section of Real Property Law) and American Bar Association. |
